How is United Way Really Making a Difference?
United Way is one of the best ways to build strong communities and help people who are in need. It’s a system based on the principle that united, we are stronger than we can ever be alone.
There are over 1,400 United Ways across the country. Each United Way is autonomous. We are UNITED WAY OF NODAWAY COUNTY. We are a volunteer-driven organization that raises and distributes funds for community needs. In our campaign, individuals can designate where their contribution will go. Given a choice, most contributors prefer to have people who really know the community helping to decide how their dollars will do that most good. That is why our United Way raises money in Nodaway County, by Nodaway County Volunteers, for Nodaway County residents in need.
MONEY GIVEN LOCALLY, WORKS LOCALLY!
When someone gives to United Way, the funds go to a wide variety of programs and services, and these programs and services help people in our community all year long.
United Way is committed to keeping costs low, with much of the work being done by volunteers. That way, you can assure our contributors their money is being used efficiently and effectively – that nearly all their contribution is getting to the people who need the help.
United Way of Nodaway County works because of the generosity of people like you, who give their time and money to strengthen their community!

We help support Children’s Mercy Hospital which has helped so many Nodaway County youth and their families. Our support of School Health Services helps to maintain the supplies needed for use by our County’s School Nurses, and the Nodaway County Community Fair Building provides a place for youth organizations to meet and hold events. BY BUILDING A SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR OUR AGING CITIZENS: through the essential work of the Nodaway County Senior Center in providing meals to shut-ins, and through Health Emergency Lifeline Services, who help provide seniors and their families peace-of-mind.
BY TOTAL SUPPORT FOR THE FAMILY AS A WHOLE: through the Ministry Center by providing food and clothing.
